KOBOLD SM Series variable area flow meters can be ordered with set-point switches triggering on flow rate. These flow switches are mounted externally in a protective housing and are actuated by a magnet within the float. This same magnet can also be used to couple to an external flow indicator, allowing reading of flow rate without requiring visibility of the float. This allows the rotameter to benefit from all the advantages inherent in using an all-metal construction, including high pressure and shock resistance. SM Series flow meters and flow switches are designed to handle flow rates up to 120% of their stated maximum flow range without damage. At excessive flow rates the device, however, will induce a larger pressure drop.

Sample applications include lubrication circuits, pulp and paper, machine tools, glass melting tanks, cooling circuits, welding machines, induction furnaces, and pumps.
